Thursday had a late start. We slept in a bit and eventually mustarded up the strength to go track down some food. It turned out that a hardy lunch at Lamberts BBQ was just what we needed to get going. Then it was off to check some bands. We caught Cold War Kids at the Auditorium Shores Stage which was one of the few big out door shows that I have been to. There songs are great to see live and I need to see them the next time they come to Baltimore. We hopped a cab across town to the Beauty bar were we saw some high energy sets from Jaguar Love, Totally Michael, and the Death Set. The Death Set turned out to be one of my favorites sets as they ripped through what seemed to be 20 songs in 30 minutes including their tune “Negative Thinking” see video, a sing along of Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” and a surprise cover of Operation Ivy’s “She’s a Bomb Shell.” We then hit up another cab to get to the opposite side of Austin to see Matt & Kim at Opal Divine’s Fire House. The two piece got the room pretty rowdy with the tracks ‘Yeah Yeah’ ‘Good Old Fashion Nightmare” and “Daylight.” We closed out our night with Metal Parody act Steel Panther. The band is straight out of 1985 and are still waving the flag for all that is hair metal. The big surprise for this set was Justin Hawkins, formerly of the Darkness and now front man for the band Hot Legg was in the crowd. Steel Panther invited Just on stage and together did a killer version of “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” Amazing way to end the night of music.

I am off to the Spin Party at Stubbs where I will probably be all day, but here are our options to see today:
